Panumchoir returns from Budapest!

Panumkorets annual automn trip out of Denmark went to Budapest, Hungary. Past years we've been to Bublin, Amsterdam, Berlin and Milano, and as usual its the higlight of the year. Like the past two years, we decided to do a choir workshop with a local choir. Luckily we got in touch with the Budapest Youth Choir who wantet to join forces and make a concert together. The choir has great history since the 1950's and a very skilled conductor, Ángnes Gerenday in charge.

We left thursday, 30th april by plane with a lot of excitement and high spirit. In charge of the planning was Liv, Lotte, Rikke, Andreas and Jakob from our choir, so what could possibly go wrong! After about 2 hours flight we landed safe and sound in Hungary. As always the choir needed to sing some songs at the airport waiting for the luggage to come, with quite supprised travelers as audience. Great start!! The busdrive to the City Ring Hotel in the heart of Budapest was accompanied by ABBA capella. After a short crash at the hotel, we left for our first practice. The local choir had been so friendly to let us rehese at their usual place in the Rottenbiller street, brushing up our own reportoir for saturdays concert. Later that night we went out for supper, trying out some hungarian dishes at the Throfée restaurant - and to sing a bit more offcourse!

Friday afternoon we meet up with the Budapest choir to work on the concert pieces together for the first time. The initial language issues was effectively overcome by translating back and forth to hungarian, danish, german and english, and good portion of enthusiams to get each other better to know. The hosts had done great deal to make everybody confortable with lots goodies after the rehersal, witch made good athmosphere for people to mingle around - and sing! The night was finished off at the "Pit", a popular live band hall downtown, for those who just could go to sleep.

The big day, saturday, we all met at the concert hall, Obudai Társakör preparing for the nights event. The koncert started at 7 p.m. with the Budapest choir singing hungarian pices, with fantastic sound and confidence. Afterward the Panumchoir followed up with pices of Morten Lauridzen, Withacre and a couple of danish traditional song. Thanks to Alexander, a american/hungarian in the Buapest choir, both the audience and singers could enjoy the introductions of the pieces. The concert was wrappet up with both Panumchoir and Budapest Youth Choir singing pices by Mendelssohn, Ingemann/Gade and the hungarian tune Esti Dal. It sounded great!

Yet another great choir trip has ended, with a lot of happy singing and meeting a lot of nice people! Special thanks to the Budapest choir for making this a very memorable experience.

We'll post some more pictures and videos shorty! :-) Stay tuned
